While working on various series of drawings, one being called A Dance in Time, I made the School block series and continued other paintings.
Again, I explored groups of children and families, as well as full gatherings or narratives involving a table and a setting at a special time of day, somewhere, somehow.

Meanwhile, the Dutch winter skies began to darken as the daylengths shortened. We experienced one of the grimmest stretches of “no sun” in about 30 years or more.
It's an internal time, moving along in a quiet hibernation.
So then, Winterzonnewende or the Winter Solstice, was certainly a day of hope. The skies above were encased in a thick, gray blanket, yet the light below held a mysterious mist.
